Position Title Network and Cloud Administrator
Position Summary
Red Deer Polytechnic is seeking a permanent full-time Network and Cloud Administrator to join the team. The Information Technology Services (ITS) team is a small and mighty team that delivers services across the campus. You will report to the IT Operations and Development Manager and collaborate with members of the larger ITS Team. This position has the ability to work in a hybrid environment with scheduled days on-campus.

You will be a key member of the infrastructure team, working closely with ITS Architect to ensure the stability of RDP core services. The Network and Cloud Administrator is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and support of on-campus and virtual networks and cloud infrastructure.
Position Responsibilities
What Your Role Will Be Responsible For:

Network Operations
  • Collaborate on network design, development, testing and implementation.
  • Forecasts future network enhancements and upgrades by staying abreast of emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with ITS Security to implement and support Network Security Controls and industry best practices.
  • Monitor and reconfigure network for performance where required.
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network outages, input/output fleet, and escalate incidents as necessary.

Cloud Administration
  • Provide operational support and maintenance of Azure cloud environments.
  • Manage Microsoft Windows and Linux servers and systems in the Azure cloud environment.
  • Maintain Azure cloud compute and cloud storage environments.
  • Monitor published outage windows and service performance.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure capacity and performance and make recommendations as needed.

Infrastructure and Systems Support
  • Support other team members with knowledge sharing, brainstorming, coaching, collaboration, etc. as requested or required.
  • Demonstrate the principles of exceptional client service with a focus on critical thinking and effective communication that supports anticipating client needs.
  • Participate in change management strategies and plans used to promote adoption of solutions.
  • Respond to alerts and resolve incidents, prioritizes outstanding issues, and manages user expectations.
  • Follow and update established service desk and ticket procedures for Level 2 and 3 support.

Required Qualifications
  • Computer Science Diploma and /or Microsoft Certified: Azure Associate Certification(s), Microsoft Certified: Systems Engineer (MCSE), CCNA (Certified Cisco Network Associate) or other similar certifications or equivalents
  • Day to day experience troubleshooting Enterprise LAN/MAN/WAN technologies, this includes but is not limited to switching, firewalls, VPN technologies, application load balancers, wireless technologies, Intrusion Prevention/Intrusion Detection threat assessment tools and video conferencing and Public/Private Domain Naming Services (DNS)
  • Experience managing Layer 2 & 3 switch networks and routing protocols OSPF and BGP
  • Experience with operational support and maintenance of Azure cloud environments and managing Microsoft Windows and Linux servers and systems in the Azure cloud environment
  • Five (5) years of related experience

Salary $71,590 - $83,748 annually
