The Bachelor of Science Nursing (BScN) program is a four year collaborative degree with the University of Alberta. It is approved by the Nursing Education Approval Council (NEPAC). Graduates receive their BScN and are eligible to write the NCLEX examination leading to licensure as an RN.

The BScN program provides exceptional opportunities to work closely with students, faculty and staff in an innovative, supportive environment that promotes creativity, scholarship and commitment to student success. RDP offers an excellent professional development program that helps faculty to continuously develop skills, knowledge and expertise specific to teaching and learning as well as their respective discipline.

All four years of the degree program are taught by Red Deer Polytechnic faculty. Faculty may be assigned instructional workload that requires travel to urban and rural locations in addition to teaching on the RDP campus.

Position Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):
  • Teaching students in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings with flexibility for both face to face and online course delivery.
  • Creating a stimulating, effective, and learner-centered environment.
  • Preparing, reviewing and/or updating course material.
  • Marking, grading, and evaluation of student work.
  • Providing ongoing feedback, guidance, and assistance to students.
  • Actively contributing and participating in program planning, curriculum development & review, and project work.
  • Actively engaging in scholarly activity.
  • Participating in School and College-wide initiatives and/or committees.
  • Upholding the Professional Responsibilities of Faculty at RDP which are described within the Faculty Performance Policy.
  • Demonstrating and promoting RDP organizational values and following RDP policies and practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Recent clinical / practical experience
  • Excellent communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for teaching, ability to inspire students, and commitment to student learning and success
  • Ability to work effectively in a variety of team environment
  • Proven commitment to continuous learning and reflective practice
  • Current Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support Provider or Recertification Certificate (HSF-BLS Provider)
  • Driver’s License
  • Police Information Check
  • Current immunizations as per RDP requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant Master’s Degree or Master’s Degree in progress preferred.
  • Experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.

Salary Commensurate with education and experience.
Benefits and Compensation Information
Part-time instructors receive an additional 14% of the gross salary in lieu of benefits and vacation pay.
