Position Responsibilities
The Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) School of Arts and Education is seeking a versatile Visual Arts Instructor specializing in teaching 3D courses for a full-time Probationary position starting on August 7, 2024. Continuation in this position is contingent upon favorable evaluations and budget allocations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate-level 3D courses in Visual Art, providing guidance to students, assisting in recruitment events, participating in critique sessions, serving on program and RDP committees, and actively contributing to and engaging in Red Deer Polytechnic’s Visual Art program and the broader community’s dynamic visual art scene.

The candidate will contribute to our tradition of excellence in studio art and demonstrate proficiency in and sensitivity to material choices, methods, techniques, technologies, and the tools of visual art through experiential learning.

Applicants with 3 years (15 studio courses) worth of teaching credit will be given preference.

Primary duties include teaching first and second-year 3D Foundation and Sculpture courses, with potential opportunities to teach in areas such as Ceramics, 2D Foundations, Creativity, Professional Practice, 2D Art and Technology.

Additional expertise in other studio areas, introductory Art History, or curriculum development will be valued.

Required Qualifications
BFA or equivalent plus relevant experience in a post-secondary context.
Position is on-campus in Red Deer.
Preferred Qualifications
MFA with 3 years of Studio Experience (15+ Studio Courses) as Instructor.
